According to the theoretical books of Byzantine Music, three fthorika sings, among others, are zygos (double sharp), kliton (hemifthoron) and spathi (flat-sharp), which the Musical Committee of 1881-83 named as chroes. Among the notes, when the chroes are placed, some specific intervals are formed. There are different opinions, among the theoreticians, in regard to the intervals, which are formed between the notes. The two Cypriot theoreticians (Stylianos Chourmouzios and economos Charalambos), through their experience, as well as through their personal research, have settled upon some specific intervals, which are mentioned in their theoretical book. In the present work, the consideration of the intervals from contemporary theoreticians, as well as from the two Cypriot theoreticians, is criticised.

    This book deals with key chapters of piano teaching, such as study, tempo, rhythm, fingering, technique, dynamics, technical exercises, pedal, memorizing, sight reading, aural tests, improvisation, composition, interpretation, teaching and others. As the title says “From left and right”, an attempt is made to avoid extreme situations, either on one side or the other, and follow the middle and royal road. This issue is the result of a long term study near distinguished piano teachers.
